বুদ্ধকে করা ১০ প্রশ্ন:

1. Is the world eternal?  

এই জগৎ কি শাশ্বত?

2. Is the world not eternal?

এই জগৎ কি অশাশ্বত?

3. Is the world finite?

জগৎ কি সসীম?

4. Is the world infinite?

জগৎ কি অসীম?

5. Is the soul the same as the body?

আত্মা আর শরীর কি একই?

6. Is the soul one thing and the body another?

আত্মা আর দেহ কি আলাদা?

7. Does the Tathagata exist after death?

বুদ্ধ/মুক্ত পুরুষ কি মরার পরও থাকেন?

8. Does the Tathagata not exist after death?

মৃত্যুর পর কি তথাগত থাকেন না?

9. Does the Tathagata both exist and not exist after death?

মৃত্যুর পর কি তথাগত থাকেন, আবার থাকেনও না?

10. Does the Tathagata neither exist nor not exist after death? মৃত্যুর পর কি তথাগত থাকা না-থাকার বাইরের কিছু?

* Tathagata=তথাগত মানে বুদ্ধ নিজে।

"মালুঙ্ক্যপুত্ত ভিক্ষু বুদ্ধরে থ্রেট দিয়েছিলেন, "এই ১০টার উত্তর না-দিলে আমি সন্ন্যাস ছেড়ে দেব"। 

বুদ্ধ বললেন: "আমি কি বলেছি তোমাকে সন্ন্যাস নিতে? তীর-বিদ্ধ লোক আগে কি জিজ্ঞেস করে, ‘কে মেরেছে, কোন গোত্র, ধনুক কী কাঠের’, নাকি আগে তীর বের করে!"

The Ten Commandments: দশ আজ্ঞা। English: KJV/ESV, বাংলা: কিতাবুল মোকাদ্দস:

1. I am the Lord your God, you shall have no other gods before me.

আমি তোমার আল্লাহ্‌ মাবুদ। আমার সাক্ষাতে তোমার অন্য কোন মাবুদ না থাকুক।

2. You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness. You shall not bow down to them or serve them.

তুমি নিজের জন্য কোন খোদাই-করা মূর্তি নির্মাণ করো না। তুমি তাদের কাছে সেজদা করো না, তাদের সেবা করো না।

3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.

তোমার আল্লাহ্‌ মাবুদের নাম অনর্থক নিও না। যে অনর্থক নাম নেয় মাবুদ তাকে নির্দোষ করবেন না।

4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord.

বিশ্রামবার স্মরণ করে পবিত্র করো। ছয় দিন পরিশ্রম করো, কিন্তু সপ্তম দিন তোমার আল্লাহ্‌ মাবুদের বিশ্রামবার।

5. Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long.

তোমার পিতা-মাতাকে সম্মান করো, যেন তোমার আয়ু দীর্ঘ হয়।

6. You shall not murder.

নরহত্যা করো না।

7. You shall not commit adultery.

জেনা-ব্যভিচার করো না।

8. You shall not steal.

চুরি করো না।

9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

প্রতিবেশীর বিরুদ্ধে মিথ্যা সাক্ষ্য দিও না।

10. You shall not covet your neighbor's house, wife, servants, ox, donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

প্রতিবেশীর ঘর-বাড়ি, স্ত্রী, গোলাম, গরু, গাধা বা তার কোন জিনিসের প্রতি লোভ করো না।
